About This Coin
The momentous inaugural 1 Rupee coin of the Sovereign Democratic Republic of India, released on 15 August 1950 following the Constitution of India. Replaced the British Monarch with the National Emblem of India (Lion Capital of Ashoka) and ears of corn flanking the denomination. Certified NGC Choice MS-64 with blazing mint frost.
The Bombay Mint issue (mint mark \'B\') is one of the most collected varieties. Struck in 50% silver, this coin represents a transition from the British era to independent India and holds immense historical and numismatic value.
